This friend can be real or made up, but we would suggest having a real friend that you can actually point out to her. Some women tend to think that when you mention your friend who needs help with dating that you’re really talking about yourself and it can come off as pretty cheesy. After you’ve begun talking to her, explain to her that you’re at the club, bar, or wherever you are because your friend has hit a rough patch in his relationship. Make sure you point out your friend so she doesn’t think you’re talking about yourself. You should then use this time to tell her the story about your friend’s rocky relationship. After you’ve explained the story to her, ask her what she thinks your friend should do.
